Is there a French word for Halloween?

Good Afternoon,

I have just come back from Paris, and I have to say I'm a little exhausted. Mostly from walking. More on that later.

For now, Home Sweet Home. I thought it might take longer for me to say something like that about Reims, but no, I am back home, and ready for class tomorrow.

Spending Halloween in Paris was quite an experience. I got to eat typical Parisian food, see typical Parisian touristy things, and talk to typical Parisian people. There were even 3 or 4 people wearing costumes! After arriving Friday evening and spending about 1/2 hour trying to find Mike in Paris Gare de l'Est, we went to our hotel. To achieve this, we took 1 metro line, 2 buses, and walked for an hour. Because our hotel was in "Paris" (read: 1/2 hour from Paris, sort of like the GTA is to Toronto). I believe our walking the first night alone covered over 6 kilometres.

The hotel was pleasant enough, and sadly the bed was more comfortable than the one in my residence, but hey at least I slept well in "Paris". Still, the "double" room was about 1/2 the size of my apartment, and contained no kitchen (which I knew about ahead of time, just saying...)

Once we mastered the metro/bus combination to get into Paris, everything became easy. Saturday we went to Notre-Dame-de-Paris, where we saw Tutenkhamon (see picture above), the Louvre, and yes, the Eiffel Tower (at night, it's all lit up... very romantic).

Today we woke up, and got out of the hotel for good. We were served a delicious Turkish lunch at a local restaurant, then we walk to the train station to head to Montparnasse, where Mike caught the train to Nantes. On the way there, we saw this strange-looking fellow (posing with Mike):

Then, we parted ways, and I found my way from Gare de Montparnasse to Gare de l'Est. Not hard, really. Oh, and Mike got lost in Nantes on his way home. I got home before him, and my train left one hour later. Go figure.

Well, that was my weekend. Hope you all enjoyed Halloween and are ready for the week ahead.

Ciao
