Dazed and Confused: the aftermath of a great party

Good afternoon, everyone!

I didn't think I'd have anything to post this weekend, but I was wrong.

Last night, there was a party. A big party. To celebrate the last weekend for almost all the remaining semester 1 exchange students. After receiving the invitation around 7 pm, I ran to the store (which was closing very shortly) to buy the necessary provisions for the night (and some for the days to come). 15 minutes after I got back, time to head out again.

So I went to the bus stop and waited. I waited some more, was pleasantly surprised when I was joined by some fellow exchange students headed to the same party, and continued to wait.
The bus did come though, so enough of that.

We got to the apartment for stage 1 at 9 pm, with Ruby Leffe, Rosé, and some Hungarian eau de vie (yes Tamàs, the last of the last of what you left in Reims). 5 bottles of Leffe, 1 glass of Sauterne and 4 hours later, with everyone now present, we headed off to the Wall Street Club.

Note: These people take themselves too seriously. Because some of the guys were wearing "inappropriate clothing" (aka running shoes), we weren't allowed in. So we just gave Le Cuba our business instead (trade embargo notwithstanding). It was better than the first time I went there, the music was enjoyable and everyone was having a good time. So why not close the bar early?

At 2:30 we were all thrown out because someone needed their beauty rest. We said goodbye to the last of the Italian students who were with us, and who head out today and tomorrow. Not to be discouraged by the bar closing, however, 10 of us ended up at another apartment, for some more drinking, and a fun game consisting of mental math and the sounds "bingo" and "bongo". Believe me, it only makes sense if you're drinking, but is completely impossible to play once you're drunk (as at least 1 person found out).

The five of us that hadn't passed out or gone home for the night left at 6:30. We walked to the bus stop, caught the bus, putting us at home for 7 am. Interestingly, I was able to turn on my laptop, talk to a few people on MSN (coherently at that), eat breakfast, watch the sun rise through the clouds, then go to bed. At 9 am. I'm not making this up.

I woke up at around 2:30 pm, feeling pretty tired and generally unmotivated. I ate a second breakfast, watched The Bourne Ultimatum (cause, you know, why not?) and showered. Which felt really good. I am now preparing to go skating in 2 hours. Unbelievable.

To conclude this little recap of the last 24 hours, I would like to thank those who hosted the party, and all those who attended for making it such a fun night.

Finally, this week in birthdays, a Happy Birthday to Gabòr, Christophe, Uncle Phil and Nonno! Hope you all enjoy your special day!

I will leave you now with some words of wisdom (or maybe it's the fatigue and leftover alcohol talking): Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Hallmark made it a holiday, might as well celebrate. If you don't have plans yet, make some! I plan on sleeping.

See you next time!
