A long time coming

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

If my Blogspot homepage isn't lying to me, it has been 7 months since my last post. Well, a lot has happened since then.

In April, I wrote my last University exam at uOttawa. I graduated in May. At the same time, I began working for a local construction company called Brofort. I was to become a Project Manager. The physical part of the work was very demanding, and the office portion was easy to adapt to. Suffice it to say I greatly enjoyed the office part. I met some very nice people at Brofort, but unfortunately, six weeks into the job, the higher-ups felt that they would prefer someone better at construction and not so admin-oriented. My supervisor gave me a very nice reference which I was able to use for the next job search.

Around this same time, my mom's stepfather (my grandfather) passed away. Nonno (Nicola) had always been one of the better story-tellers I knew, was always quick with a joke, and was one of the strongest proponents of all my travels and work/education decisions. He has been and will continue to be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Come July, I was still looking for a job. Conveniently, though, I had time off throughout all of Bluesfest. The lineup was fantastic this year, featuring Buddy Guy, Blue Rodeo, The Tragically Hip, The Dropkick Murphys, Peter Frampton(!), Steve Miller (!), and many more! It was an amazing 2 weeks.

Just as Bluesfest was ending, I got a job at HayGroup, the multinational HR consulting firm who still has the privilege of calling me their employee. I like it there so far, the people are very nice and very good at what they do. I only hope I can match their expectations and grow as they expect me to. I'm also looking at the possibility of pursuing a Law degree, an MBA, or both, in the next few years. I guess we'll have to see.

So that's the last 7 months in a nutshell. I should also mention that since Bluesfest, I've also seen André Rieu, The Australian Pink Floyd Show and Robert Plant in concert. I also sell 50/50 tickets at Sens games, so free tickets to those too :D I'm planning big things for the future, so stay tuned, I'll try to get on here a bit more often now.

Hope you all enjoy your Christmas preparations!
